The purpose of the Indigenous Youth Foundation, Inc. is to preserve, restore and distribute Chumash culture through the recognition of history and traditions, preservation and reclamation of traditional land and environmental resources, and the transmission to and honoring of Youth and Elders.   The Indigenous Youth Foundation, Inc. seeks to empower Chumash youth to become active participants in community building by educating them through their own cultural experiences.

The Indigenous Youth Foundation, Inc. has been working since 1999 towards the protection, preservation, and teaching of Chumash oral histories, language, songs, traditional foods and medicines, arts and crafts and the environment.   Our programming includes traditional food and medicine gathering, educational tours, arts and crafts classes, history lessons, documentaries and publications, environmental education and sacred site protection.

The Indigenous Youth Foundation, Inc. also extends our knowledge and services to the general population by offering cultural presentations to local public schools and other community organizations, to promote accurate historical documentation, cultural diversity and higher education. All of our projects benefit our surrounding communities by providing accurate information regarding the Chumash people and all Native Americans.
